Can cake ever be a sin?

Puristic naked pastries, multi-tiered fancy cakes in a metallic look, baked statues finished off with opulent peaks and decoration – gone are the days of the good old Victoria cream sponge, now things are dished up on a very grand scale. The baking trend is still very much on the up and it's not only for weddings that the hobby bakers and professional confectioners are conjuring up true works of art in their bakehouse-cum-atelier.

Messe Friedrichshafen is now offering baking fans from the four-nation region round Lake Constance the perfect platform for their passion, offering a new event on February 3 – 4, 2018, when Messe Friedrichshafen will be getting my cake fresh out of the oven. We've got the right recipe for success, mixing together a pound of shopping fun with a handful of workshops and demonstrations, all seasoned and rounded off by renowned cake artists.  And the icing on the cake to the event is a creative cake competition.

See the stars from the baking scene live

From sumptuous gateaux through baking ingredients and decoration to various baking courses – this new show leaves nothing to be desired. And we are pleased to welcome and get the backing of celebrity bakers, for instance “Backfee Betty” from Betty´s Sugar Dreams, on the Sat1 TV show “Das grosse Backen” is one of our supporters: “Being a master confectioner, decorating cakes is one of my real passions. I'm really looking forward to sharing this enthusiasm with the other exhibitors and visitors at my cake.”

Alongside the workshops with stars from the baking scene, the show also offers an enormous range of products, such as baking tins, baking ingredients, specialist journals, baking implements, aprons and accessories. And of course we mustn't forget the sweet temptations: so there are cakes, chocolate and confectionery to taste – everything you need for your sweet tooth and to find inspiration. The true works of art made of pastry, fondant, marzipan and chocolate presented at the great bake-off are indeed almost too good to eat.

A weekend for the do-it-yourselfers

Getting away from home-baked, but still home-made – sewn or designed – are the clothes and pieces of jewellery which will be presented at the large hand-made creative market in cooperation with the DIY platform Dawanda. This trade fair will take place as a separate event alongside my cake and offers creative minds the all-round range of inspiration, shopping and event!
